Editorial policy

These rules explain how we moderate reviews, how ratings are calculated and how we keep commercial interests away from both.

Who can leave a review

Anyone with first-hand experience of a card can leave a review. Reviews must describe your own experience with the specific card, not a different product, a rumour or an advertisement.

What we publish and what we remove

We publish positive, mixed and negative reviews under the same rules.

  • Removed: spam, advertising, referral links and promotional text.
  • Removed: insults, threats, discrimination and personal data of anyone.
  • Removed: reviews of a different product and duplicates from the same author.
  • Held for checking: unsupported accusations of fraud or crime, and suspected coordinated reviews.

How ratings are calculated

The average rating, recommendation share and complaint counts are calculated automatically from approved reviews only. Recommendations are reviews rated 4–5 stars; complaints are reviews rated 1–2 stars. Pending or removed reviews never affect a rating.

Editorial scores such as usability, support or fees are set by our team using card facts and the overall review picture. They are labelled separately from user ratings.

Translations

Reviews are written in many languages. To make them readable for everyone, we may show a machine translation with a link to the original text. The original always remains the authoritative version.

Card issuers and commercial links

Card issuers cannot pay to remove, edit or hide reviews, and they cannot buy a higher rating or position. They may report a review they believe is false; a report starts a check, not an automatic removal. Commercial links, where present, are disclosed and never influence scores or moderation.

Reporting a review

If you believe a review is fake, abusive or breaks these rules, contact us with the page and the reason. We review every report and explain the outcome when we can.
